four stroke engine

FOUR STROKE ENGINE:
FOUR STROKE ENGINE is an internal combustion engine in which the piston moves up and down or complete four separate cycles to complete the combustion process. The piston moves up and down by the revolution of crankshaft, The four separate terms as
                    1.suction or intake
                    2.compression
                    3.expansion or power stroke
                    4.exhaust
petrol engine or SI engine
diesel engine
SUCTION:
The vacuum is produce into the cylinder by moving the piston from TDC (top dead center) to BDC (bottom dead center) where the air-fuel mixture being sucked into the cylinder through inlet valve .

COMPRESSION:
It starts at the end of the suction stroke or the piston moves from BDC to TDC where intake and exhaust valve are closed, the air-fuel mixture compress into the cylinder during the stroke which leads to increase in pressure and temperature.

POWER STROKE:
After compression of air-fuel mixture, the crankshaft rotates 360deg revolution.the piston moves from BDC to TDC ignites the air-fuel ratio by sparkplug (in petrol engine) or by heat generated by high ccompression, forcibly return the piston at BDC.

EXHAUST:
The piston returns from BDC to TDC removing the unnecessary gases through exhaust port.
